Burrell 25th In Marathon At Beijing World Championships

Ian Burrell (adidas) posted his highest finish in a World Championships when he finished 25th in the marathon at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China. Burrell ran much of the race further back, always higher than 40th before taking advantage of the extremely hot and humid conditions over the last 15k on the course to move up.

Burrell finished as the top American with Scott Smith in 28th and Jeffrey Eggleston not finishing under the grueling conditions along with 25 other competitors in the 67-man field.
