Saina 8th In World Championships 10k

(Beijing, CHINA) In her first world championships appearance, Betsy Saina took 8th in the women's 10,000-meters at the IAAF World Track & Field Championships in Beijing, China.
Off of a slow pace due to hot and humid conditions, 24 of 25 starters were in one large pack at 5,000-meters with a pedestrian time of 16:11.99. Saina bolted to the front to challenge with five laps to go in the 25-lap race. A handful of competitors responded and the pace continued to accelerate with Saina finishing fast in 31:51.55, but only managing to

salavage 8th in the bell lap sprint.
