Rainsberger & Gray Selected As Competitor's 2015 Runners of the Year

Katie Rainsberger (Air Academy) and Joe Gray (Merrell) have been selected by Competitor as the High School Girls Runner and the Trail Running Man of the Year, respectively.

Rainsberger claimed Colorado state high school titles in 2015 in the 800m, 1600m, 3200m and cross country, as well as ranking as the fastest youth 1500-meter runner in the World. She capped off 2015 with the fastest 5k cross country time in the nation with her 16:23 and won the Nike Cross Nationals national high school title, breaking Allie Ostrander's course record by 23 seconds. 2015 also saw Rainsberger qualify for three US junior national teams including Guiyang, China's World Cross Country Championships, Baranquilla, Columbia's Pan Am Cross Country Championships, and the upcoming Great Edinburg Cross Country in Scotland.

Joe Gray led Team USA at the World Mountain Running Championships finishing 5th and set several trail records including the FKT (Fastest Known Time) for the popular Manitou Incline, beating the previous best of trail running legend Matt Carpenter by 46-seconds. He also won the Mt. Washington Road Race with a new American record and he placed second at both the 39k Flagstaff Sky Race and the Moab Trail Marathon. Gray qualified for his 19th US national team in 2015, including the Pan Am Cross Country Championships in Barranquilla, Columbia.
