Coaches are invited to spend four days in beautiful Colorado Springs in an intensive coach-mentoring camp developing a realistic team-specific training plan with guidance from the American Distance Project’s coach Scott Simmons. The Coaches Camp is limited to a small number of attendees in order to focus on specific team planning.

Simmons has coached athletes to success across a range of distances and events, but has particularly excelled in coaching cross country runners and teams to championship accomplishments.

In the last year, Simmons has coached high schooler Katie Rainsberger to the Nike NXN national title, as well as professional athlete Mattie Suver to the 2016 U.S. National Cross Country title.

Simmons has placed over 20 athletes on U.S. national cross country teams and, as a collegiate coach, directed five back-to-back NAIA national cross country championship team titles at two separate universities. Over the course of his coaching career, Simmons has had six U.S. and collegiate individual national cross country champions, as well.

The Colorado Cross Country Coaches Mentoring Camp will help you develop a specific actionable strategy for:

a) Team biomechanical evaluation and injury prevention planning;

b) Team healthy positive nutritional advisement;

c) Team active rest & recovery protocols, and, most importantly;

d) Team and individual season training planning designed to maximize championship season success.

In addition to lectures and small group workshops, attendees will have the opportunity to tour the U.S. Olympic Training Center, attend workouts of the American Distance Project, and visit the 14,000-ft summit of Pikes Peak. The goal of the camp, however, is to develop an actionable training plan to bring your high school or college cross country team its best ever post-season results.

Attendees have the option of contracting ongoing consulting throughout the 2016 cross country season.
